Re: Office Professional Plus 2007 installation failure

Well, I understand his pain and the others who are not as lucky as you in
this install. I've tryed for over a month on the test machine with clean
install of Vista Beta 2 (latest Version 5384) and I have downloaded the Beta
for Office three times and tried to install a dozen times, some with all
default options, some with fewer components (custom) I've searched Microsoft
and Google for help on the error code generated with no real luck. There is
NOTHING else on this computer except Vista and the package for Office Beta.

The processor is Athlon Barton 2500+, 1Gig Ram, 250Gig (empty hard drive)

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 (Beta)
Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly component
{97F81AF1-OE47-DC99-A01F-C883B9A1E18E}, HRESULT: 0x8007054F.

Setup failed. Rolling back changes...

The error is always the same and it fails at about 80% install and backs out.

I am a systems analyst for a large company who may someday wish to roll out
the newer version, but not at this rate of couse.

In any case, I give up. I've spent far more of my personal time trying to
get this to work just to try these new wiz-bang features and improved
interface and little or no real 'beta' support for the software. If MS wants
to continue to attract FREE Beta testers, they need to improve the beta or
improve the support to actually listen to feed back and or problems.

If I released, even in beta or alpha, such a product to my internal
'customers' I would loose my job.

In any case, feel for the people who have such faith in MS that they believe
it is safe to use these beta versions for real world needs. They end up
loving or hateing MS far more afterwords but generally end up giving a LOT of
their own time and efforts to making it work or recovering what they can
after an terrible flaw or bug takes them out. MS should be more responsible
about a beta program and limit the distribution to a smaller group they can
manage the feedback from.

For others like myself who have tried a few times and failed, give up! Wait
for a new beta, or a more stable pre-release. However, keep in mind these
issues when you go to spend the cash on the final product or try to convince
your company of the value it 'might' have.

I sure wish we had other options! :-)

Try and look at it this way:

It's a *test version*. There are known problems with it. It can and probably
will screw something up on your system when it comes time for it to expire.
Only people with the beta will be able to read the new format so you will
have to remember to make sure you are doing a Save As an older version
before you send that file anyway. Chances are it will expire at an
inopportune moment. There's no guarantee that you will have the cash on hand
to buy the final released version. There's no guarantee that there will not
be a gap between the expiration date and the final release.

Need I continue?

You must be one of the lucky ones.

I not wanting to start a flame war but I am here to get help.
if I was the only one that had the problem I would be looking at my
computer
setup but I am not

If you check the board, many have said that they have the same problem
with
the same error.

Microsoft must realize that everyone that writes that there is many that
just del the file and not bother.

I have downloaded 3 times on this computer and once on my laptop but same
problem

"installation of this package failed"

My wife had a thought is this beta for US citz only?
Will Try and download again but this time change location from AUS to US
