Thanks Miss Tick,
I suspected things were non-legit. The XP Home CD is; it's not
holographic.
I'll put an enquiry to the seller. I have a strong impression that
I've received all I'm going to get in this deal. I bought the PC from
a family friend who advertises locally; not on ebay as far as I'm
aware.
He also supplied non-legit software to the owner of the main family
PC... his A4 *** of colour-coded numbers failed to perform as he
expected, so XP Pro retired after 30 days. Office XP was partially
usable and vulnerable to the justified anti-piracy measures pending
from Microsoft, re. updates. So we got rid of that. We bought a full
retail copy of XP Pro on ebay, registered & activated it, all OK. I
expect I'll do likewise.
