One problem with that is you cannot update Office 97, RS2 in particular
won't install.

For some reason that doesn't work on all computers and mine is one of
them, I tried it quite some time back and found it didn't make a bit of
difference, I still couldn't install Office 97 and wound up having to
install Office XP in order to have Office installed with all the
features I wanted.
One other work around is to remove SP2, install Office and update it
and then re-install SP2 but, personally, I think the only guaranteed
fix for all computers is to get a newer version of Office, either MSFT
or OO.
