What app, what version and what steps are you using?
Is the autoshape selected when you choose Format=>Autoshape/
If the autoshape is not a textbox did you right
click on the shape to select 'Add text'?
If you're talking about working in one of the
Insert=>Diagram modes then theat's a different
feature set, using autolayout or autoformat
can disable the resizing settings.
