Well what originally happened is that my system was
attacked by a virus or something happened. I had lost my
Office SBE disk, due to house fire and moving; the
builder of the System used OEM disks and he was no longer
in business and so I called Microsoft and explained the
situation. They sent a new SBE disk for a $40 fee since I
had a really good excuse and I supplied the PO verifying
I had acually bought the SW originally. Well when it came
time to activate I didn't have the Key Code. So another
call to Microsoft and they reluctantly gave me the Key
Code. . . I'm happy again.
However not long after I actually activated and started
to use the SW this problem happened. I installed again
and then when I tried to activate over the internet it
said that I had to call ta activate. Microsoft tech was
again doubtful but gave me the authorazation code to get
it going. It wasn't long after that that it crashed
again. Always while on the Internet; never while I was
just using it off line. After a few more times of re-
installing it, I got tired of this; so I thought
somebody must be targeting my system. Then I bought Virus
program AND GHOST and installed on a NEW disk. This time
I was going to narrow it down.
Strange thing is that I can "activate" now without being
forced to make the phone call to prove I'm not installing
this on more than one computer. So somewhere they have
made one of two decission; either I'm still having
trouble and reinstalling this OR that I'm a pirate and
they are bombing my system. So while Microsoft is
protected from piracy I still don't have access to my
machine; have bought two programs to protect myself and
still cannot get online once I activate the product.
So you can understand why I have been a little paranoid.
I'm also upset that I would have to pay for another
service call for support; so I'm trying this approach
right now.
This is a system that worked for years before this
happened.

So lets assume I'm just paranoid. I'm thinking that I
need to make the call and pay for an incident to get to
the bottom of this. Or I've got some driver that I'm
installing that is causing such a conflict that it
corrupts my OS????? There are ASUS disks that I use for
the Video card and Audio drivers.

What if I reinstall from scratch on a brand new piece of
hardware? I should go down to Frys and get a new
motherboard and start over.
