    Folks,

I have a problem I imagine has to be commonly faced by
many individuals upgrading their computers. I would not
know how to classify it. It is kind of an
activation/installation problem caused by a hard drive
upgrade/migration. Please, read the summary (and details
if you think you can help). Thanks in advance to those who
    try to help. JOCA

    Summary:
After upgrading my computer with a bigger hard drive, MS-
Office prompted me to reactivate the product. After
running the reactivation process, MS-Outlook is not
letting me to Send/Receive e-mails or even check my e-mail
accounts settings alleging that the send/receive operation
failed due to a registry or installation problem. Then it
is prompting me to reinstall MS-Office. I would like to
solve the problem without reinstalling for reasons
explained below. Everything else in other MS-Office
programs seem to be working fine. Can you help me?

    Detailed Explanation:
Recently, I upgraded my computer's hard drive to bigger
one (120 GB). The new hard drive (Western Digital) came
with a utility that guides you through the installation.
During the process, you are asked whether you want the new
drive to be a secondary (slave) drive or a primary
(master) bootable drive. Since I wanted to replace my old
drive, I chose the second alternative. Then, I was
instructed to install the new drive temporarily as a
secondary (slave) master for the installation utility to
migrate my old drive into the new one. After the cloning
was done successfully, I was instructed to change the
jumper settings on the new drive to make it a primary
(master) bootable drive. Subsequently, I made the proper
changes in the BIOS and rebooted. To my delight, the
computer booted just fine. Everything seemed perfect. All
my programs ran normally and all my setting were the same.
However, when I tried to open a Microsoft Office's
application, the Activation Wizard popped up, displaying a
message indicating that "a significant change to my
machine's configuration was detected and I needed to
reactivate the product for it to continue functioning
properly". I followed the reactivation process, inserting
the original MS-Office CD in my CD-ROM and clicking next.
After the reactivation was completed, I opened every MS-
Office application and everything seemed fine.

Today, when I opened MS-Outlook and wanted
to 'Send/Receive' (under the Tools menu) mail to/from my
account, I could not find the 'Send/Receive' menu option.
Then I tried checking the 'E-mail Accounts' (under the
Tools menu) and got the following error message: "The
operation failed due to a registry or installation
problem. Restart Outlook and try again. If the problem
persists, please reinstall." Then, I tried getting at the
e-mail account's settings interface from the 'Mail Setup'
tab in the 'Options' interface but got the following error
    message: "Not implemented".

Is there any solution to my problem other than re-
installing MS-Office? I have customized my office
applications to a great extent (options, toolbars, add-
ins, 3rd party application toolbars, etc.). Replicating
all the setting would be very time consuming. Maybe there
is a registry entry that needs updating or there is
something I missed on the activation that can solve the
problem without having to reinstall. Can you help me?

    Thank you so much

    JOCA
