Re: Cannot get Office 2007 Standard Upgrade to work in 64-bit Vist

Works 9 - Office 2007 upgrade bug
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943290

If your Office 2007 upgrade is a retail version support is provided (for
Office) by MS, if its a version supplied with a PC its supported by that
supplier

Vista was updated before anything was installed or upgraded None of the
messages or posts I came across mentioned any bugs. Attempt at installing
in
compatibility mode was essentially desperation on my part, since nothing
else
had worked. Microsoft support told me to go to HP support. HP support
told
me to go to Microsoft support.

Any other apologies for Vista I need to check out?

You are making assumptions, your new PC may have a version of Vista that
is
several months old and missing various updates.
Its also the case the Works has a bug that will not enable it to be used
as
a qualifying product for Office 2007 unless an update has been installed
You dont install Office 2007 in compatibility mode
Presumably you did check that a Trial vesion was not preinstalled.
When you receive a new PC you dont install anything untill MS Update has
been run, and you then check your PC is functioning correctly

Should not have to. Vista came with Works 9.0 pre-installed, and I
bought
the
computer yesterday, so I assume HP had a reasonably recent Works 9.0
suite
installed.

The Office 2007 upgrade works fine with XP, so I know the disk is good,
and
I also have right-clicked on the setup.exe file and adjusted the
properties
to emulate XP with service pack 2.

Did you update Vista, via MS Update, to install not only critical
updates,
but any updates to Works prior to installing Office from cd/dvd media?

I just bought a HP model p6130f computer with 64-bit Vista running on
a
quad-core CPU.

I discovered that the Vista comes with Microsoft Works 9.0, which is
eligible to be upgraded to Office Standard 2007. I put in the
upgrade
CD
and
click that I trust it, and nothing happens.

I have administrator permissions.

What's wrong?
