I didn't realize you couldn't see the previous posts that I replied to. Here
were the suggestions I already tried. Note that I did not reinstall either
version, but they were loaded in proper order (2003, all updates, then 2007).
BRIANB: You can specify which version will open a document. It's just a
little
tricky. Once you've reinstalled both versions per the other posts, open
Windows
Explorer (I'm speaking from a Win XP perspective) and go to Tools > Folder
Options. Select the File Types tab and sort the types list by extension.
Scroll down the list to find the Office extensions (doc, xls, etc.).
Highlight each extension and select the Change button. Find the application
you want to open the file, highlight it and select OK. If the desired
version is not in the list, you'll have to select the Browse button and find
the exe for the application. Make sure that the Always Set ... box is
checked before selecting OK.
GORDON: right-click on the file and choose "Open With". Check the box
at the bottom "Always open this type of file with..." (or words to that
effect!)

I'm having the same need as JoAnn, but opposite direction. I have both
2003
and 2007 installed, but want 2007 to open as the default for Excel and
Powerpoint, but 2003 for Word. I tried both BrianB's and Gordon's
suggestions, but the icon remains as the 2003 version. Any other ideas?
