RE: Can't see all files in Outlook Express

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi Gary

Outlook Express has a limit of 2GB... even close to this size is sometimes
too much and the file will become corrupt or inaccessible due to it's size.
Unfortunately, once it's corrupted due to size, there's no winding back the
clock, however....

There are repair tools available to assist you to fix corrupted files. As I
don't know the software configuration of your machine, I have included a link
below to a search on Microsoft's help and support centre for: Outlook Express
Repair Tool. Please browse the results and pick the solution which applies
to your software configuration, or feel free to search the site further for
additional help.

I have used similar repair tools in the past, and they have worked
reasonably well. The best solution of course, which you won't like is to
manage the size of your email account on a regular basis, some suggestions to
do this:

- Get rid of what you really don't need - bin it!
- Make use of the Archive feature, if you're not sure how to use it, read
about it in the help section it's a great resource.
- Make new folders (outside your inbox) and put only a month's worth of
information in them (do this for your inbox AND sent items)

I've posted your question and my answer on the Microsoft forum so others may
benefit from our discussion. If you need more assistance in the future,
please post your question to the forum instead of my direct email address.
This will ensure you are not waiting for my response and others have the
opportunity to help you who may have better solutions than I can offer you.

Here is the link to the forum where this has been posted:

Hope you have a great week!

Kind regards - Melanie

Please help: J

I have 5 years of mail in Outlook Express, so the file is very big almost 2
Gig…. With 30,000 messages. However, now when I open it, it only displayed
28,000 up through September 2008. So, I am missing all the mail which I had
downloaded in the last several months. I had the big file of 30,000….

So, how to view/display all the 30,000 ???

Thanks.
