I appreciate the recommendations. I downloaded the software, ran the test
and had 115 errors; corrected the 20 free ones and restarted the computer.
I've worked several emails and so far, Outlook has not locked up.
I use Tune up Utilities 2009 at least daily, sometimes more often and it
always finds problems and corrects them. Therefore, I'd rather not pay for
another pgm.

Thanks very much for the link. I posted my reply to your site, but in a
nutshell, I did everything the site recommended and still have the same
problem of Outlook "locking up" numerous times.
Any other ideas?

h have a similar problem. I'm using Office 2007 Small Biz on a 2.53
Mhz,
4G
Ram laptop with XP. I have Outlook pinned to my start menu and it
opens
relatively fast. However, once I click on an email to open/read,
the
pgm
hangs up and I have to close out and then I receive a "pgm not
responding".
I end now, then restart Outlook and it works fine as long as I don't
shut
down the computer.
I'd appreciate any suggestions.

office 2007 loads slower than all previous versions of office.
This is the "bloat" all microsoft products suffer from.. you should
see
vista!
The reason why the first time it loads slowly and after that it
loads
fast
is that the first time some files are cached in the ram,
so windows draws from the ram the next times.
Vista uses "superfetch" to battle its own bloated software, which
is a
kind
of "smart" cache, this function that is built into vista
"pre-loads" programs you use often so they will load faster. If you
do
have
vista, get more ram....
I don’t know what version of windows you are using, XP or Vista and
how
much
ram you have...
IF you have 2 gb or more ram and you are using XP, this program
might
make
things load faster the first time
since it reproduces what vista has with superfetch: www.eboostr.com

Office applications open much slower the first time after a
reboot.
About
40
seconds compared to just a few seconds for additional starts. I
am
assuming
the first time is building some initial configuration files, temp
files,
etc.
Is there some way to open applications fast this first time?
Note:
Window
profiles are being deleted each time because these are public
machines.
But
possibly I could drop some file or two in the default user
profile?
Note:
it
does not seem to matter which app is opened first. If I open
word
first,
excel will open fast and visa versa. Just the first Office app
is
slow
after
a reboot.
