I have a copy of Office 2007 STandard that I bought tow years ago. I have
only installed it on three of my computers and I just bought a new desktop a
few months ago, the problem is I think I left the disk in either my
grandmother's in NY ( I am in MO) or it is somewhere packed away from when we
moved out here.
I have the case it came in so I have the product key, my question is:
Can I download the software to the computer I want it on or do I need to
start digging and find the disk? The version of Office that came with this
desktop is dofferent than the one I bought.
Office Standard is only licensed for two computers, a primary device and a portable device for use by the primary device's primary user. Office Home and Student is for three computers "within the same household and not for commercial use" (my quotes) Grandmother's computer is not physically within the same household unless you are living there, but you say you are in MO which means that it would violate the license agreement by having GM's computer with a copy and your computer in MO with a copy.
Either way, you have violated the licensing agreement with Microsoft.
Either way, before installing any other Office product on the new desktop uninstall the trial version and any associated activation wizards and reboot the computer, otherwise bad things will be sure to happen when you try to run the installation.
