Re: cannot open office 2007

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Thanks for your reply.

I have Windows XP Home Edition
Service pack 3
2.33 ghz
2.00 GB Ram

I previously did a disk cleanup and defrag, I also performed the detect and
repair, with no help.

I did as you suggested and went into safe mode, and Word, Excel, Powerpoint,
etc did come up and work.

I checked the virtual memory and here is what it said:

Virtual memory is already at custom.
Initial size 2046
maximum size 4092

Minimum allowed: 2mb
Recommended: 3069 mb
Currently allocated: 2046 mb

I did not make any changes because because I thought I only had 2 mb of ram
anyway.

Any suggestions or questions?

perhaps, you simply need
to do a little tune up on
your system.

you might try a cleanup
then a check disk and a
defrag.

to do the above, right click
on the drive and select properties.

the options will be on the
first and second tab, resp.

another thing to look into is
to double check your
virtual memory.

ensure you only have one and
instead of using auto, select
custom/fixed size instead.

set the initial size of 2 and
the max size will be recommended
at the bottom of that same virtual
memory window you're in.

incidentally, you should also
be able to run office via windows
safe mode, which is ascertained
by pressing the f8 key and selecting
the safe mode via the boot menu.

the above will be helpful to further
review the problem.

I all of a sudden cannot open any programs (excel, word, powerpoint) in
Office 2007, I get an error message saying not enough memory, or it says that
since it shut down incorrectly, it asks if I want to open in safe mode, then
won't let me. I uninstalled and reinstalled with same error message.
