I don't have a trial version - I did pay for it! And I have activated it. I
used it yesterday (2003 version) and switched off my laptop. When I switched
it on again this morning, it didn't want to work!
The fact that you used it yesterday is NO indication that you actually activated it.
Open (say) Word and do Help-Activate this product. What does it say?
