Hi Sandra,
With Office Professional you can install one copy on a desktop computer and another on a laptop - but Office can't be used on both at the same time. The portable installation right can't be used on a desktop computer, either, though you are pemitted to install the software on two laptops.
If you're 'retiring' the current PC, you're entitled to unistall it from that and re-install it on the new PC, and you can do this any number of times. You'll might have to use phone activation, though. Also, retail licenses of Microsoft Office can only be re-assigned to another device once every 90 days.

I have Office 2007 Professional on my current computer and plan to buy a new
computer. The salesperson told me that my software can be installed on up to
3 different computers, but that is not my understanding. I know that is true
for Home and Student, but is it also true for Professional?
