I'm having the same problem. I am unable to run fileformatconverters.exe
because it's not a valid win32 application.

The fact is that we're told that downloading something from the microsoft
site doesn't have a valid signature, and doesn't even allow us to make a
decision for ourselves to continue. Making allowances for this ineptitude by
dowloading to the desktop and running from there doesn't seem to be working
for me either as i click on run and nothing happens.
What other add-on do have to download to make windows work, and will it let
me run it?

I just redownloaded the file from the link shown below. The resulting file
is 27.5 MB and is a valid executable file. I was prompted per usual for
permission to let it run, but it runs just fine. If you're trying to run the
file directly rather than downloading it first, try downloading it first,
and then run it.

I am experiencing the same issue as Notahobby. I have tried to run the
'FileFormatConverters.exe ' in both Vista and XP Home-SP2 with the same
error
message ( FileFormatConverters.exe is not a valid win32 application).
This
conversion installer does not appear to be a real executable.

Word 2003 notified me that I need a converter to run a Word 2007
file (.docx). I clicked through to:

Bottom line is, installation would not continue.
1. Microsoft doesn't sign its own software?
2. I have an ordinary HP Pavilion DV 4000 notebook, XP Pro and
legitimate
Word 2003, all fully updated (including all High-Priority Updates), 1
Gig
RAM. Why is there a problem?
