Thanks, db. I had thought of that.
However, the PC is running great now (except for the O2K install!) and the
last time I installed, it was at a similar point...

well i think the first.
mistake is to load
all the third party
programs.
my suggestion is
to do it this way:
1) resinstall your oem
recovery disk and nothing
more. I mean nothing more,
nada..! No NAV, No WIRELESS
whatever...., etc.
2) update windows and your
machines drivers from microsoft
and your pc makers website.
donwload and update nothing
more, nada, period.
do not visit any other sites outside
of microsoft, your isp homepage
and your pc's homepage because
you will have no protection.
afterwards your computer should
be running perfectly and smooth
as silk for a couple of days.
if this is true then make a restore
point.
then let us know your stats.
it would be safe to say that
if your pc is malfuntioning
with the basic methods above
then it would be simplier
to figure out what may be going
on with your system.
if however, the above proves
to be true and windows is
running at high performance
the next step is to install office.

I am asking again because I am really stuck! Please note that this is a
reinstall of O2K, and the key worked fine last time...
Re-installed XP Home from OEM recovery disk (fresh start!)
Then, in order:
NAV 2007
Wireless adapter utility
Ad Aware
Spybot
Windows Defender
Then when I attempt to re-install O2K, I get the "invalid CD key" error.
After retries, and web search, I find
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/842566
Following these instructions installs the suite, but when I run any of the
programs (i.e, Word), I get the CD key dialog box, and guess what? I get the
same "invalid CD key" error!
I'm stuck!
Thanks in advance for any help!
