Re: Office 2007 Enterprise applications not starting anymore

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi Herb,

thanks for you answer - although I don't like the bottom line of it...
Maybe I will try to contact MS support, if I find the time...

Kind regards,
Daniel

I've tried to "repair" a damaged profile in the past by selectively copying
parts of a working profile to a damaged one. I've also tried the reverse, to
try to determine which part of the profile is broken.

I've been really successful in breaking a working profile... but I've never
succeed in fixing a broken one... despite many hours of [as it turned out]
wasted time. ;-)

I'm not saying it can't be done... I'm just saying that I've never
succeeded.

Hi Herb,

hm, that is bad news... It is a well used domain user, with every option
set
to my liking... Actually, I don't want to do all these settings again...
You knew about this problem with the user profile, so it seems to me, you
are a bit more into it, than I am: Can the problem be located a bit mor
precisly than only "user profile"?

Kind regards,
Daniel

Hi, Daniel,

I know of no way to _fix_ a damaged Windows user profile. The only "cure"
I've seen or used was to create a new profile, and abandon the old one.
In
Control Panel - User Accounts, create a new user profile and log into
Windows using that profile. If the problem does not occur, then [I would]
start customizing the new profile and use it rather than the old one. You
will likely need to copy documents/pictures/etc from the old to the new,
but
I would avoid trying to copy any Office settings from the old to the new.

Hi Herb,

can you please tell me, how to fix the userprofile?

"Herb Tyson [MVP]" wrote:

Yes. The problem description sounds like your Windows User profile
information might have been corrupted. A way to see if it's this
information as opposed to an installation issue is to create a new
user
profile and see if the problem still exists.

Do you mean a new windows user profile?

If you create a new user profile... does Office function okay for
the

user?

Hello,

my Office 2007 Enterprise applications are not starting anymore.
Excel says:
---------------------------
Microsoft Excel
---------------------------
Not enough memory to run Microsoft Office Excel. Please close
other
applications and try again.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
Word says:
---------------------------
Microsoft Office Word 12.0
---------------------------
There is not enough memory or disk space to run Word.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
Outlook says:
---------------------------
Microsoft Office Outlook
---------------------------
Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot initialize
Microsoft
Office
shared utilities. Restart your computer or reinstall Microsoft
Office
Outlook.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Sure enough, I have enough memory and disk space:
1.3 GB free physical memory
86 GB free disk space
I tried an uninstall and thereafter a new install: didn't help.
Please advise
