You have checked Control Panel->Mail Icon->Data Files and ensured that it is pointing to the correct .pst file? Where is the one it opened by mistake? If you delete that one, what happens?

After furious head scratching, Charles W Davis asked:
| Fist hickup in 3 1/2 months. Outlook 2007 stopped working and said
| that it had to restart, I replied OK. On the restart, it attempted to
| use a .pst from the default location. On this Vista Ultimate, I have
| the .pst in a folder under Documents for easy back up.
|
| I closed Outlook and on reopening it went to the correct .pst. Is
| there a setting that will enable the .pst to be located on the
| recovery?
