Re: Access denied message on saved copy of Office XP files

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

It's due to the owner privileges of the file system in the operating system. Take ownership of the folders. How? See "Take Ownership of Files or folders" in Windows Help.

My question is how do I recover my email and contacts from Outlook and the files in My Documents from a copy of the files on the C: drive of my old system?

The copy of the C: drive is on a hard drive and when I try to remove the read only attribute from the My Document folder, I get the message ‘access denied’. If I try to open a file I get message ‘User does not have access privileges’.

I think this may have happened because I copied the files from the C: drive instead of copying the partition.
