While I've not tested this yet, some folks have reported that if they do a custom installation of Office XP of Office 2003 and
choose only the 'alternative input' features that the handwriting/draw anywhere features will still work with Office 2007 after
using. If using Office XP you may also need the Office XP Tablet PC Pack from
http://microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=33790048-269B-4838-AB9E-74B64626A494&displaylang=en
There are also a couple of 3rd party products that enable the inking capability in apps that don't have it.
