Re: Handwriting input for Office 2007?

That really stinks. Is this just a ploy to get us to buy Vista???
Why would people upgrade to 2007 office if office XP supports ink without a
tablet...too bad I already did...

I have an awesome Wacom tablet...just not Windows Tablet PC...this bites.

If I get Windows Tablet edition, does it see my Wacom tablet? Can I
basically use that instead of actually owning a tablet PC?

I see. Really sorry to hear that. It had been so useful with the
handwriting input!

Thanks for clarifying this for me.

We are talking about the same thing. Voice input was completely removed
in Office 2007. This is now completely up to Windows. Handwriting input
is still there, but only if your Windows offers that support. And yes
handwriting is an Office component. It will show up in Office 2007 as an
Ink group on the Ribbon, but only if your OS offers inking support.

Sorry, but MS moved a lot of features to Windows with 2007.

Patrick,

I think we are talking about different thing.

The input method I was talking about is provided for as an Office component
and will work in Windows XP (non-table edition). It is a component normally
not installed with Office.

Once installed, the WinXP keyboard selection dialog will have addition
fields that allow for the selection of handwriting method and voice input
method - assuming those are available for the particular language selected.

It is especially useful for input Chinese characters (requires appropriate
MUI component) using the mouse.

i think the input method you are refering to is the XP tablet edition input
method.

AFAIK, yes. The ink tools only show if your OS has support for them
(e.g. I see them on my tablet, but not on my desktop).

So you are saying that it is no longer available with Off2K7 for normal WinXP
because I had been using it since Office XP with the standard WinXP?

It is there if your operating system supports it. That requires either
Windows XP TabletPC Edition or a Vista Edition with tablet support.

Is the handwriting input method available since Office XP been removed from
Office 2007?

Thanks for any info.
