Re: Word 2007

Actually, it appears, after I did some further research, that this problem
seems to be common among purchasers of Office Student and Home 2007, which is
probably not one of the more commonly purchased versions right now. When it
installed, it installed bad HKEY_CURRENT_USER keys into the registry...and
all that needs to be done to fix it is to delete the keys so it can create
new ones the next time it runs.

Thanks for the reply, and hopefully this can stick around so anyone else
encountering this problem can find out how to fix it, since I only found out
how to fix it on a random tech site I found when I was googling the problem.

The short answer to your question is that not everyone encounters the
problems you are encountering. My first guess would be that something went
wrong during your installation. I would try doing a repair. In Word, click
the Office button [looks kind of like a bad pizza in the upper left corner],
Word Options, Resources tab, Diagnose.

If that doesn't fix the problem, I would start looking at Add-ins and
possibly corrupted registry entries. The steps shown in the following are
designed to help locate and correct such problems, the name of the link
notwithstanding (you'll need to adjust some of the steps due to the fact
that you're using Office 12):

Please let us know if this helps, and if not, additional help will be
forthcoming.

I just bought Office 2007 today and so far, I'm feeling kinda ripped off,
and
after 2 hours of searching for answers to my problems, I feel like
Microsoft
is acting about Office 2007, like Sony is about the PS3.

My Office 2007 installation will not use its spell checker at all...and I
mean, at ALL. I've got my custom dictionary from Word 2003 added to it,
but
it still thinks "Ia awm vewyea tahavinfula foesew mayeas smaokell foeant"
is
spelled right(the only problem is has with that word is that 'Ia' is not
'IA'. It doesn't automatically check the words(or it does, and decides it
is
spelled right) and when I tell it to check it manually, it says spell
check
is complete, and that my words are correct.

Finally, when I do go into the proofing section of the options(which is
hard
to find, btw), it is asking me whether I want to use traditional or new
french spellings. Despite the fact my language setting for everything in
my
computer(Word 2007 included, I checked twice) is U.S. English, it doesn't
mention any language other than French in the proofing section and I can
only
assume it thinks my horrible spelling is some 'new' french way of spelling
things.

Why is this happening, why can't I find any information on this, and why
has
it not been fixed with an update yet, more than 3 months after release?!
