Re: Spelling and Email Problems - Need Help

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi Lynn,

MS Outlook Express is part of the MS Internet Explorer product. The IE team chose not to update it to use the newer English
language proofing tools from Office 2007. You can add 3rd party spellers. Folks have reported success with either of these.

A. Vampirefo Spellchecker for Outlook Express:
http://geocities.com/vampirefo/

B. Tinyspell:
http://tinyspell.m6.net

For Office 2007 proofing tools for Word, etc, see if you can activate the French/Canadian choice from Start=>Program
Files=>Microsoft Office=>Microsoft Office Tools using the Language setttings choice.

If that doesn't work then in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control panel
-start the Microsoft Office 2007 choice and select 'Change'.
- Then select 'Add or Remove Features'
-then open from there
'Office Shared Features' and set 'Proofing Tools' to 'run from my PC.

Office 2007 English language edition comes with English, French and Spanish proofing tools. Other languages will be available
during the next 3 months for separate purchase.

The SKU112.CAB error is from the Windows Installer attempting to use Office 2003 so you may want to check in Add/Remove Programs in
the Windows control panel to see of 2003 and Works products are still listed.

For being able to email from within Word you'll need to have a 'MAPI' email client set as your default, for example, Outlook
Express. If you're using a web browser/internet based email service unless it provides an add-in to link it to other programs you
probably won't be able to have Word recognize it.

The Windows Live brand is replacing the MSN brand in many of the products and you may want to check with the support/discussion
groups for their products for those issues. When you reconfigure or remove/add programs it can often be helpful to restart the PC
to be sure that some pending actions that require that restart are completed.

Hi there,

I am posting this on behalf of a friend. It's a really odd situation.
There are two key problems here.

1. Can no longer send e-mail from (purchased) Word 2007. The mail link
is grayed-out.

2. Spelling dictionaries have disappeared except for French in Office,
Outlook Express, MSN Premium and MSN Messenger.

Office Student and Teacher 2007 was set up for English (Canada) with
alternates as English (USA) and English (UK). No French at all.

Believe this all began when my buddy had a problem with MSN Messenger 7. He
decided to remove it. Somewhere along the way Windows Live Messenger was
installed. Then that was removed and MSN Messenger 7 was re-downloaded and
installed.

History. Works 8 is installed. Believe this has now been removed. Also,
the computer came with Office 2003 Trial which wasn't used and which has
also been removed. Office 2007 was purchased and installed on top of Works
and 2003.

Basically, need to re-initialize the dictionaries for English. Only French
Canada and French France are available. Has tried to add other dictionaries
without success.

How should this be resolved? How to make sure that Works 8, Office 2003,
Windows Live Messenger are all removed and not causing conflicts.

Next, how to re-install the English dictionaries for Outlook Express, MSN
Premium and Office 2007. He has looked on his MSN Premium, Windows XP and
Office 2007 installation disks and cannot find the files that are neede, per
the error messages he has received are as follows:

MSN Explorer Error 265

You currently do not have a dictionary installed for the selected language.
You need to install a spell checker available with installation of Microsoft
Office
and Microsoft Works in order to use the spell checking feature.

Yesterdays error message informed me that I need to install SKU112.CAB to
get
spell checker (yes, I checked all the files I could find on my computer and
could
not locate it).

What would be the course of action to follow here? As I'm the third party
here it would be helpful if the instructions are easy to follow. The person
with the problem needs step-by-step guidance as they're still fairly new to
computers.

Thanks in advance for any guidance and solutions that you can offer. Much
appreciated!
