Re: How do I set up the MDI Printer?

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Do you have Office XP or Office 2003? Did you simply try to reinstall MODI, or did you read and follow the instructions to UNinstall and then REinstall MODI?

That is EXACTLY what I tried...no luck. I think the person who gave me those instructions must have gotten them from you, because that is VERBATIM what he wrote to me.

Uninstall and then reinstall the MODI printer driver feature
using your Office 2003 CD. Instructions courtesy of Windows MVP
Carey Frisch:
1. Close all running applications. If you have any Office
application running, the driver will not be installed properly.
2. Go to "Control Panel" and "Add or Remove Programs".
3. Click on "Microsoft Office 2003" and then click on "Change".
4. Check "Add or Remove Features" and click "Next".
5. On the bottom of the page check "Choose advanced
customization of applications." and click "Next".
6. Under Microsoft Office click on the + sign in front of
"Office Tools"
7. Locate the object "Microsoft Office Document Imaging",
click the icon and select "Not Available".
8. Click on "Update". This will uninstall the MODI driver.
9. Repeat steps 1 to 6 to go back to the same location you
were before.
10. Locate the object "Microsoft Office Document Imaging",
click the icon and select "Run from My Computer".
11. Click on "Update".

I frequently use the .mdi "printer" to save documents to my computer that would otherwise not have a valid file extension (usually data and documents on the internet).

Somehow, my .mdi printer was removed recently. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to re-install it.

I have tried to uninstall and re-install Microsofit Document Imaging using Add/Change Programs>Microsoft Office 2003>Change>Add/Remove Features>Choose advanced Customization of Applications, but this has not worked.

Does anybody have any suggestions?
