Re: B2TR and Windows Update

Hi Patrick

Unfortunately re-boot didn't work because this was my first reaction once
I'd resolved the NAV problem and past two days I've done nothing other than
check Groups to see if someone else has the same problem. Similarly each
route to the Update site reveals the same response as previously detailed and
regarding On-line assist this leads to a dead end - unavailable!

Also looked at Subject: How To Fix Windows Update (BITS/AU) in Win/Win
Updates Group but although reasonably savy I have the feeling if I follow
this route I may end up with major problems?

Appreciate any help you can give on this one?

First suggestion...reboot :)

Where exactly do you get the error message? Is this an error message
shown in the browser window of IE? Or is this a dialog that pops up?

You could try going to http://update.microsoft.com, and chose there to
use Microsoft Update instead of Windows Update. If there is anything
wrong with the automatic update components on your computer, this might
install a different one and solve the issue.

And heh...thanks for mentioning MVP when referring to me :) I became one
less than 24 hours ago, and it still hasn't really sunk in :)

I'd been runnng Beta 2 for quite some time without any problems whatsoever,
downloaded B2TR, also Calendar Printing Assistant which required an update to
MS Net Framework V3. Installed CPA followed by B2TR which then created the
problem with NAV subsequently resolved with Patrick Schmid (MVP)'s assistance
(see Subject: Re: Major Problelm with Beta Technical Refresh).

I now find that I cannot use Windows Update Site for any purpose as I
continually see the error message: -

Error Number: 0x80245 003. Windows Update has encountered an error and
cannot display the requested page.

Problem here is that any additional information pages displayed also lead
no-where although I have managed to locate KB919749 unfortunately this has
not resolved the issue and I still cannot use WU.

I'd certainly appreciate assistance without going into any complicated
scenarion because I'm working in Middle East and therefore do not have normal
route for help as in UK etc.
