No error codes. It simply lists the two updates and the status at the right which say -- Failed ! The only action is that I can close the window. As I said, the Failure must be reported to MS by the Update app but it has now been a month and it is continually trying to install the same two failures. Meanwhile, I have not received any NEW updates..... MS really needs to know about this. Thanks Tom

Hi

Usually if an update fails you are taken back to a screen which gives you an error code. You are given the option of seeking an explanation for this error code. It seems there are a number of reasons why the downloads fail, sometimes a registry key gets corrupted and also the installation path for some of the office applications gets corrupted.

The solutions range from retyping the registry key to un-installing office and then re-installing it.

The updates are automatic, it is the Automatic Update provided by MS, I do not do anything: KB914455 and KB921566 fail to be install. And then it is repeated in 10 minutes. And after every shutdown and start up. I have no control of this at all.

When I turn on my computer, it attempts to install these two security updates and they fail. I cannot send you a print screen here because this app does not support the sending of images. But I will gladly send details to MS if you give me the contact. And by the way, the Automatic Updates do not provide a way for clients to communicate to MS in the event of a failure. And the automatic feature is not solving this issue after months of the failure. That is why I am notifying MS in this manner as I have no other known method. -- Thanks

Microsoft can't/won't fix your computer.

Perhaps if you posted some of the details, someone here will be able to help you. Exact error messages, exactly what steps you are taking, etc.

My security update started failing for two updates and the process
continually is looping every time I start my computer. Not good. The
tracking system is not fixing the isssue so this is why I am writing. 1) I am
not getting any new updates and 2) Continued failure of two updates. One for
PowerPoint exposture and one for One Note. It is starting to get to me as it
does the same thing for months and is obviously a failing process. Office
2002, XP with SP2.
Can somone fix this at MS?
