As Bob I points out there are some parts of Office 2007 that have been, by Windows XP security updates, been blocked. Basically
it's the Web Authoring Tools portions. When you install, choose a custom install option and uncheck those features.

Also, you should probably then download, save to your hard drive and install the Office 97 product and feature Service Releases and
updates from http://office.microsoft.com/downloads (Office 97 isn't 'checkable' through the automatic Office update checker at that
site).

A reason to keep a set of those updates available is that prior to Office 2000, Office used an older setup program (Acme Setup).
Acme Setup cannot reapply service updates automatically when you reinstall or change the installed feature set of Office 97, they
need to be reapplied each time that occurs.
