Re: OFFICE HOME USE PROGRAM - MY LAP TOP STOLEN, TRY TO INSTALL

Sorry - that is for the retail version. The Home Use program comes from the
Software Assurance program from the OP's employer and has a different EULA.
Home Use licenses are single installation licenses. The OP will need to
apply to the employer for another license or other options.

After furious head scratching, sgstandre asked:

| Carey,
|
| You are too cavalier about this. And, it seems, wrong as well.
| Reading the Microsoft EULA on
| http://www.microsoft.com/office/eula/en.mspx for Office XP products
| the FIRST paragraph states: -----------------------
| 1. GRANT OF LICENSE. Microsoft grants you the following rights
| provided that you comply with all terms and
| conditions of this EULA:
| 1.1 Installation and use. You may:
| (a) install and use a copy of the Software on one personal computer
| or other device; and
| (b) install an additional copy of the Software on a second, portable
| device for the exclusive use of the primary user of the first copy of
| the Software. -----------------------------------
| So, there you have it: Note the "AND" above; Microsoft grants the
| license to install the software on TWO PCs belonging to same user.
| So, one was stolen, that's none of Microsoft's business. Whether
| first PC is stolen or not, I still have the right to install the
| software on second PC. BUT, and a big BUT: how do I get Microsoft to
| allow me to do what they licensed me to be able to do???
|
| Please advise.
