Are you installing from a CD or from the downloaded Office 2007? If you downloaded the Office 2007 Beta 2 file, did you first
extract the contents to a folder/CD?
[My initial installation was direct from the downloaded OPPLUS-EN.EXE file
and installation proceeded without a hitch. I did try your suggestion of
extracting the files to a CD and encountered a bizarre (to me anyway) error
message: "The language of this installation package is not supported by your
system." This is a new one to me.]

problems with the exception of Outlook. I had a corrupted mapi32.dll file but

Can you complete a repair/reinstall of Office 2003 successfully from Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control Panel?[See above.]

If you use Start=>Run and type
%temp% {enter key}
and locate the recent Setup.exe(nnnnnn).log file does that log file give any more details/specifics on the problem?

I successfully uninstalled Office 2007 through A/R P as I was incurring
spurious issues that were all reported out. I had no issues with 2003 as I
never uninstalled it with the exception of a minor hiccup with mapi32.dll &
Outlook, which I resolved.
I then followed the steps listed in another post here regarding the use of
the Windows Install Clean Up tool, etc. I then further cleaned the registry
with Registry First Aid. The latter found loads of Office 12/2007 entries,
which were deleted.
After several reboots I tried a clean install of Office 2007. It continually
aborted with the same 'send an error message to Microsoft' whether in Safe
Mode or not.
Excuse my French, but am I SOL in installing Office 2007 clean? >>
