Re: PowerPoint Slide Show

Thanks. I haven't gotten back with you until I was able to talk with my friend, which I did tonight. He Removed MS Office from Add/Remove Programs. It still has PowerPoint listed, but it won't open. I'll send him this website which you gave. I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean about saving the PPT/PPS files from his e-mail.

I don't know about getting rid of the offer popup, but I do know there is a free PowerPoint Viewer your friend can download to view PPT and PPS files.

Here's a link to the download. After downloading, double-click the file to install it.

Since that link's really long, here's a shorter link to the same page:

Also, tell your friend he needs to save the PPT/PPS files from his email to his harddrive and then open them. There can be issues when trying to open PPT/PPS files from within Outlook Express (and maybe Outlook, too, I don't recall) if you only have the PowerPoint Viewer and not the full PowerPoint program.

I had asked about this a while back, but my NGs don't seem to go back far enough to find. This is for the friend that I try to help because he has visual problems. We tried to download PPS for him, but since he had a MS Office free trial thing on his computer, that offer kept popping up. So, OK, we activated that and then he had all of Office, including PowerPoint. But now that trial is over and he doesn't want to purchase Office. (He has WordPerfect and for the little he does with documents, that is sufficient.) He does, however, enjoy working with pictures, and viewing slide shows sent to him by e-mail. I had been told by someone on the NG that they thought PPS would remain after the trial is over, but he just notified me that it will not open. Where should he go from here? When he originally tried to download the free PPS, that Office trial popped up. It's doing it again. Is there any way to delete that "offer" pop-up so it won't be in his computer at all? And them maybe he can download PPS? Thanks for any help with this.
