Nothing to be done about folks who insist on running beta software in a
production environment without a fallback option (ghosted image, etc) except
to point out the errors of their ways.

Arrogance - no, consider it a spanking for a really bad, stupid user. I DO
believe in corporal punishment and think that our society suffers for the
lack of tolerance for it.
