RE: OUTLOOK 2007 BETA

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Patrick & epearson:
The first thing you should try is removing Office 2007 completely, rebooting and then reinstalling it. If it still doesn't work, then you might want to go back to an earlier version (2003 e.g.).
But, before you run the setup program for any earlier Outlook version, you have to make sure that Office 2007 is completely uninstalled. So before you try to reinstall Outlook 2003, remove 2007 completely, reboot and then run the 2003 setup program. You can reinstall 2007 (without Outlook) after the 2003 setup is complete. If you run setup for an earlier Office version while 2007 is still installed, you are probably going to end up in a huge mess that only System Restore might get you out of it. Hence, please don't do it.

Btw, that blank window telling you shut an application is complaining about something used by Windows Explorer. It's a bug in the setup program.

Patrick,

I have similar problems. I had Outlook 2003 (Office Pro) with all the
updates. I am running XP Pro with all the updates also (ensured everthing up
to date before the install today). When installing the Office Professional
Plus 2007 (Beta 2), I had an error message telling me to shut the following
applications (none listed) so I turned off all spyware and antivirus
programs. Retried, didn't work, hit ignore and it finished installing.

Everything else opens and works fine (Powerpoint, Access, Excel, etc...).
When I tried to open Outlook 2007, I get Error: OLMAPI32.dll. I report it,
do the repair thing, and the how to prevent this from happening message
shoots me over to a update your adobe program (I have the latest Adobe and it
won't install since it is the latest version). When I checked the Outlook
2003, it sends me the following message: "Cannot start Microsoft Office
Outlook. MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or the wrong version. This could have been
caused by installing other messaging software. Please reinstall Outlook."

Should I just go ahead and reinstall Outlook 2003?
