RE: can't install 2007 Beta

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I just wanted to state here that in another thread I got a solution that
worked. LJ Dellar said< "I had the same problem, but found that if I "ran"
the software instead of saving it at the point of download, it worked fine.
You could try downloading straight to c:\temp (which is where it would end up
if you chose "Run" instead of "Save"."

I just moved my downloaded EXE file to c:\documents and
settings|[loginname]\Local Settings\Temp and double-clicked it and it worked
like magic.

I tried using WinRAR. When I double-clicked Setup.exe I got the following
message:
"Setup could not find any available products to install. Please contact
yoursystem administrator."

WinRAR contained 185 files and those were transferred to the folder I used,
which also had 185 files. There was no subfolder structure (I sort of
expected one.)

I'll try the other suggestion on this thread, plus another idea I had.

There could be many reasons why it can't find the folder. For example it
could be "regional setting" or "admin priviliges". But...
A fast workaround could be as following:
1- Install Winrar from www.rarlab.com
2- Right click on the Office installation file and "Winrar-->Open with Winrar"
3- The file will be opened with winrar. Click on "extract to"
4- extract the file to a folder somewhere on your computer (remember the
place)
5- Open that folder and run "setup.exe"

Let me know if this helped.

No, the download is an EXE file. I double-click it to extract the files. When
that process finishes, installation starts automatically. I'm asked for my
product key and instllation goes on for a little while before giving me the
message that it can't find the folder with the CAB file and that the location
I choose (because the file IS there) is an invalide location.

Are you installing this from a compressed file without extracting it first to
a folder?
(Compressed file like: *.zip or *.rar)

"Ellen Finkelstein" wrote:

During installation I get this message:
Setup cannot find pro.WW\Pro.WW.cab. Brows to a valid installation source
and then click OK."
It displays a folder in Documents & Settings\[my login]\Local Settings\Temp
called OWP156.tmp. This has a folder Pro.WW which contains a file proWW.cab,
but when I select the Pro.WW folder it says "Invalid Location."

Any ideas? I can't install Office 2007 because of this.

Thanks,
