Buy it from Amazon, not one of those "other sources". For example, the

usual $500 price (I was wrong in my first post).programs

Thank you, for the information JoAnn.
Amazon is one place I had been lurking. But, it leaves
me a little suspicious when I see this product offered
via Amazon's new & used segment for one half to one
third the price, and described as "never opened".

The latest Windows version of Office is 2003. To get all of the

other sources. They are reliable and you get the CDS, not just a

Office 2004 is the latest Mac version. Works 2006 doesn't have the

you specify. I believe there was a Works 2005. Once again, not the
you need.

My wife wants Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and maybe others, for
strictly personal usage.(don't ask <g>)
To avoid any further strife(I've fought this 'til now) I have
decided to purchase/install Office for her needs. Although
a retail outlet has suggested to merely install the academic
version, we do not meet that licensing criteria.
I'm literate, but apparently not MS Office literate!
Referring to
http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/howtobuy/compare.mspx#ETB
it appears that the selection of MS Office PE 2003 will
more than fill any current/future needs she might have.
However, I need some backup opinion(s)/validation(s):
I see this product available at many web outlets, at widely
varying prices. Generally speaking, is it a safe purchase
via a discount site?
Most everything I see refers to 2003. However, I have
found references to 2004, 5, and 6. Are these some kind
of non-MS product(s)?
Looking at a retail purchase, are there any SP2 type or,
extensive post install service application issues?
Are my conclusions/plans solid?
Thank you, very much.
Gary
