Re: How do I set to do 1 space instead of 2 following a period?

It's not unique to your school. It's actually the norm with computer
documents. Two spaces were needed with typewriters with monospaced fonts. It
was difficult to tell the difference between two words versus two sentences.

Yes, I have done that. But in typing a 200 page document (as a typist who
has typed putting two spaces after a period for 40 years and therefore
would
have to break a well engrained habit) I need to be able to correct the
error
(the two spaces) automatically--or at least in one action that corrects it
all. Also, I have part of the paper already typed, thinking that the
dissertation software I purchased would automatically convert the document
into the correct form. It turns out this 1 space requirement is unique to
my
school and is not included in the formatting done by the software.
Therefore
I need to be able to make this change in an already-typed document.

Hi Zoe,
In Word you can use
Tools=>Options=>Spelling & Grammar=>[Settings]
and set the 'spaces requried between sentences' to 1, to have the grammar
checker watch for typing 2 spaces after a period.
