I would say to recheck your association, hyperlinks open in the editor of choice here.

you can choose with which program Microsoft Windows opens for example JPG files.
this is called File Association.
But when you create a HYPERLINK in for example Ms Word, and you point that hyperlink to a JPG file, it doesnt open using the program those files are associated with, but it opens them using either Microsoft Photo-editor or Internet Explorer (Microsoft programs)
My question is: How do i change this and make sure that my JPG files are always opened by the default program (the program its associated with)? even when im using HYPERLINKS
