Re: Reinstall MSO: how can I prevent to loose my Personal Folders

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Have you tried Detect and Repair from the Help menu of any Office program?

Remember, all that uninstalling and reinstalling will accomplish is a
passage of time - it seldom, if ever, fixes a problem.

After furious head scratching, kermor asked:

| Thank you... In fact my MSO particularly my Outlook can't be updated;
| I have some problems related to lost registry I believe. I.e. my menu
| missed â??Fileâ?? staring with edit insteadâ?¦ The best way is to
| remove everything and start with a fresh copy and do my update....
| I went to Windows search and could not find my .pst file! I went
| under all files and folders and nothing came out!!!
| You said that removing MSO will keep intact my personal folders, my
| contacts folder and calendar somewhere... I'm sure you're right but I
| want to play
| safe with those files and save it on my desktop, I canâ??t take the
| risk to loose all of them...
| Reinstalling MSO meaning Outlook, what should I do to bring back into
| my
| e-mail program those files the same way I left them?
| Thank you again for your help.

|| You will never lose data created in Microsoft Office if you
|| uninstall and reinstall.
||
|| However, having said that, save your .pst file (use Windows search
|| and enable searching hidden files) to a safe location.
||
|| First, however, you might want to post why you think your Office 2003
|| installation is infected. Simply removing it and reinstalling will
|| not remove any infection. That requires an AV product - you can use
|| House Call from Trend Micro to check your system. Then you should
|| get an AV program, one free one that works well is from
|| http://www.grisoft.com.
