Why does office always say "Installing Features" when loading?

I have installed Office 2003 to run everything from the hard disk. Now,
every time I load anything, from Outlook to Excel, it pauses and displays the
message "loading features" which slows things down. How can I get the
program to quit doing this as it is very annoying. Anybody else experience
this?
