Is "Photo Editor" incompatible with "SP2?"

Is "Photo Editor" incompatible with "SP2?" I previously ran "PE" on a non-SP2
machine with "XP Pro" with no trouble. Now on a new "XP Pro, SP2" computer it
tells me I am out of memory when I am "Auto balancing" photos sequentially. I
have 512 MB of RAM; no other programs were active at the time I was using
"PE." I hope there is a solution. Thanks in advance for your advice.

I am 75 years "young" and interested in gaining computer ''savviness.'' My
computer is set up with "XP Pro, SP2" and has a 40GB HDD and 512MB RAM. It is
"P4" equipped at 2.8GH.
