Ah, finally a clue. SPF is a tool used by many Mail servers to authenticate
the message origin of emails - the SPF Fail message at the top may have
something to do with the message arriving garbled. Also, is the message
sent with Rich Text Format from another Microsoft Office Outlook user?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
After furious head scratching, saharris54 asked:
| Yes, my ISP webmail displays the message and attachments correctly.
| The problem occurs when its downloaded to my mail program. At the
| moment I'm leaving a copy of all my mail on the server to preserve
| the attached files. How do I locate the block list? It would be odd
| if doc. and jpg files were on the block list as I've done nothing to
| change any of the settings. It all worked fine up until a few days
| ago. By the way... thanks so much for your response :o). I truly
| appreciate your time and effort. I'm happy to follow further
| direction and instruction :o).
|
| The emails either begin with: X-Default-Received-SPF: fail (Last token
| {-all} (res=FAIL)) client-ip=70.84.236.130;
| envelope-from=<sa_harris@dccnet.com>; or X-Default-Received-SPF: pass
| (Last token {mx/16} (res=PASS)) client-ip=68.142.198.104;
| envelope-from=<saharris54@yahoo.com>;
|
| Don't know if that helps or means anything :o).
| Thanks heaps! sandra harris

||
||| This is a recent problem that started happening a few days ago. I
||| spent many hours yesterday on the phone with my ISP, but the problem
||| is with Outlook 2003. Your help would be greatly appreciated :o).
|||
||| All incoming mail with attached documents are bypassing my in box
||| and ending up as garbled messages in my junk email. It's as though
||| outlook is translating both the text portion of the message and the
||| attachment into computer language that is unreadable. This is a
||| serious problem because I can't receive documents from clients, so
||| its really causing havock with my work. There is no to, from, or
||| subject when they come in. There is no paper clip to indicate that
||| there's even an attached file. HELP!
|||
||| I tried to detect and repair, checked for critical updates and re
