Hhelpp!! File not available after MSOffice & Windows XP SP2 Update

I updated from Windows XP SP1 to SP2, and also updated MS Office XP to MS
Office 2003, and now when I try to open any MS Word, Excel etc docs I get an
error message that says " file xxxxxxx.doc not available". I deinstalled MS
Office 2003 and reinstalled MSOffice XP SP3, and the problem remains. I can
open the same files with Wordpad, and with Quickview Plus.

I updated my Symantec Antivirus definitions, and when that didn't work, used
MSConfig to disable all antivirus programs, then rebooted, but the problem
remained. I also ran LiveUpdate on my virus programs.

Just to be clear about this problem, if I create a new word document, save
it, and then try to open it immediately, I get the same error message. When I
had the problem on MSOffice 2003, it said something about the antivirus being
a problem, but I have explored that issue, and done everything suggested by
Symantec.
