1. Profiles are not data files. Profiles ACCESS data files depending on how
you have them configured.

2. Search your hard drive (turn on searching hidden/system folders in
Windows Search) for any file with a .pst extension. When found, note the
exact location(s).

3. Go to File->Data File Management. How many .pst files show up there?

4. If only one, then go back to the file menu and use File->Open->Outlook
Data File. Navigate to the location of your found .pst files and open them.

You can now access your archive.pst file in your folder tree. If you do not
want to have it always showing, then right click and select "Close."

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Barrie asked:

| Sorry Milly, I probably haven't explained this properly, under All
| Mail Folders window, I have Personal Folders, (created to hold my
| Inbox etc), and 2 lots of Archive folders which when I click on them
| a Pop up box appears which says, "This set of folders could not be
| opened", I suspect I deleted the pst file or something whilst I was
| trying to sort this out. Under
| Tools - Email accounts - View or change existing accounts, the New
| Outlook Data File still shows my Personal Foulders and 2 copies of
| Archive Folders which I cant get rid of. Control panel - Mail -
| Profiles only shows Outlook, (which I assume is my Personal Folders).
| I have tried a complete uninstall and reinstall of both Outlook and
| Office, both of which failed to rectify the problem.
|
| Hope this explains it better, sorry about my ignorance.
|
| Many thanks
|
| Barrie

|||| Why do you need to close the old profiles? Use the Delete function
|||| in Control Panel->Mail Icon->Show Profiles.
