Susan,

That's one of the very first things that I tried. Just
for kicks, though I just now tried it again just to make
sure I wasn't confused or something, but it still did not
help.

Other things I have tried are:

* Removing it by "hand" by deleting entries from the
Registry, as well as the program files directory. (This
was a last result, that probably hosed things even worse.)
* Installing a fresh copy on top (it won't let me)
* Installing a copy of Office Small business addition on
top. (I was able to do this, but I had to delete it
since I only have a license for 1 computer, and I already
had it installed on my other computer). Once I
uninstalled Office Small Business, I tried un-installing
Office XP, thinking maybe something might have been fixed
in the process, but no such luck.
* Inserting different copies of OfficeXP cds and trying
to install / repair / uninstall from it (No such luck. I
have tried with 4 different Office XP CD's, but the
symptoms are all the same.)

Thanks for the thought, though!

The office alternatives are looking like really good
options at this point. I am downloading OpenOffice right
now...

Still, it would be nice to have Office XP cleanly un-
installed from my PC!

Thanks,

Carl.
