It seems to currently be called "Smart Client" and it appears to principally be some
sets of hooks to help dotnet code interface with the object models of the various Office
apps.
While you folks were adding to this thread, I was at the MS SV campus, attending
a pre-preview sort of session on Smart Client technology.
Not a peep about preserving even one single line of anyone's existing VBA codebase.
My impressions of what I learned haven't completely gelled yet, but I did get a
feeling of misdirection, possibly unintentional. As if they believe that the
"oooooh, shiny thing!" factor will be sufficient. Like they believed with VB.bet
