Re-packinging office (Outlook %username%) help!

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

When I type in %username% when configuring a mail profile the name will

not resolve.

However if I open dos window and type %username% I get my username
returned, and if I type that value into the profile the name resolves
properly. And no I don't get a list of names returned to choose from.

I am using Office 2003 SP2 running Exchange 2003 Standard with SP2

This affects all users on two separate backend servers.

I need to figure out why this happens, and how to correct it. This is
causing issues with
re-packaging office as the names for the profile don't resolve, and I
don't want to force end-users to type values in.

Any help would be appreciated.

(just an fyi... all also tested this on a development exchange server
E2k3 on W2k3 mailboxes on that server had the same issue... different
DNS, GC, and Network. I am guessing this is caused by some security
patch, or hotfix)

Or perhaps someone could shed some light on how the name look-up
occurs, so I could maybe investigate AD permissions etc??? HELP

.
