Has anyone else using automation noticed that Word::Selection::Cut,
Word::Selection::Copy, or Word::Selection::Delete will cause Microsoft Word
2007 to stay running in the background after it's been closed? This doesn't
seem to be happening with older versions of Office.

I haven't noticed it, no. However, if you're putting large items on the
clipboard and the application isn't visible you might be running into a dialog
box waiting for user input. Office will show a dialog box asking if you want
to retain the large amount of data that's been put on the clipboard. It's done
this for a number of versions, but there may be something particular in your
scenario?
