Writing to Web-based Database

I am trying to build VBA code that will write to a database located on
a web server. Database is MS Access now, but could use SQL Server or
something else SQL based. How can I automate the process of opening,
appending, and closing a database when the Office application is on
the local computer but the database is on a web server?

Thanks
