Since Automation of Office applications on the server is highly DIScouraged by
Microsoft, it would certainly be better to solve this as you desire... Which
version of Office would be involved? What kinds of documents would you need to
generate?
This sounds like just the kind of thing the new Office 2003 XML was designed
for. In a pinch, you could probably also generate/read Word HTML that can be
worked with using Word 2000 and later.
FWIW, there is no way to read/write the Word binary file format (excpet through
a programming language such as C++)
