    Can you describe in a bit more detail what you have in mind?

    Based on what you say, I can make the following comments
        - the object model of every Office application is different; you may have
    to learn the object model of each, depending on what you want to do
        - probably, what you want is an "Addin", more specifically, a COM-Addin
        - COM Addins will work with Office 2000 and later
        - What you can use to create one depends on which version of Office you
    have, and if you have the Office Developer's Kit for that version. One can
    also use VB6 or any other "higher" programming language that can create DLLs.
        - You should be able to find more information on creating Addins on the
    msdn and/or Office Developer websites at microsoft.com
