I followed these instruction below:
On Windows Vista:
Reboot your system.
Open cmd.exe as an administrator by selecting Start/All
Programs/Accessories.
Right click on Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.
Type in
unregmp2.exe /UpdateWMPVersion
Press enter.

Did you run "cmd.exe" as administrator and then run unregmp2 in that window?
That's the only way this can work. =)

The file wmploc.dll has a version number of 11.0.60001.7004 where
11.0.6001.7000 was expected.
Windows Media Player is not installed properly and must be
reinstalled.
Do you want to install the Player from the Microsoft Web site?

That's not a crash, happily, and is easy to fix once you find the

follow those steps and you will be good to go.

Now I immediately get an Error Message:
The file wmploc.dll has a version number of 11.0.60001.7004 where
11.0.6001.7000 was expected.
Windows Media Player is not installed properly and must be

Windows Vista Home Premium
Service Pack 1
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU @ 2.40 GHz
4.00 GB RAM
32-bit Operating System
NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT
Gateway GM5478
I tried contacting Microsoft for support online;reading support.
Tried the Microsoft automated "Fix It" downloaded app.
Microsoft points to Gateway;Gateway points to Microsoft.
Seems Microsoft should support an upgrade since THAT didn't come
with
the computer when I bought it.
Googled. I am not alone.
What fun!!!
Seems the solution to Microsoft is: when Explorer crashes, use
Firefox. When Media Player crashes, use another player.
Any ideas besides the above that don't involve reformatting and
reinstall?
Thanks.
